The negative thing about home retirement is the fact that everyone thinks it’s a form of elderly prison where you just sit around until you fade away. I see this time and time again with with our retirement residence and I hope this article will help people understand that home retirement is much more.
What Is Home Retirement?
Seniors seek a home retirement setting which means they can retire with assisted living either at home or in a retirement residence. When the family takes them to a long term care facility (Nursing Home) within months sometimes weeks the client has passed away. Of course the families are always trying to do the right thing but what most people don’t realize is that they are actually taking away the independence and quality of life from their loved ones.
Why Home Retirement Is Better
Staying in a retirement home allows you to keep your dignity and pride. Although there is assisted living available you still have the freedom and independence you need to stay healthy. Fact is being able to stay in the home is often what most seniors try to do as they feel a Retirement Residence is a nursing home where they are shipped off to like a prison and it is NOT.
A home retirement residence allows seniors the choice to do what they want the freedom to make their own choices, to come and go as they please. It’s this state of mind that helps keep the body healthy if you take this away from seniors and ship them off to a nursing home they feel trapped and give up on life and feel as if they are just sitting around waiting to die and in a sense they are.
When seniors realize they can choose home retirement as an option they will see that when they move into the right type of Seniors Residence they can bring all their own personal belongings and make their room more personal as it really is their own.
Make it your own! With home retirement you can make your room into your own little apartment by bring your TV, Bed, Dressers, end tables or chairs. Most Seniors Homes already come fully furnished but you can always ask to bring your own personal belongings.
Most seniors think that a Seniors Residence is a nursing home or old aged home when the fact is it is more like a boarding home where you have the same freedom as you own apartment except your meals, laundry and room are cleaned for you.
